What is TRIO EOC?

TRIO Educational Opportunity Center (EOC) is a federally funded program administered by Owens State Community College that serves low-income (under the Federal TRIO Current Year Low-Income Guidelines) and/or potential first-generation college students who need assistance completing admission applications and applying for financial aid and scholarships for a postsecondary educational program (i.e., vocational, technical, community college, or university).

TRIO EOC Eligibility Guidelines

You are eligible to participate in the TRIO-Educational Opportunity Center services if you are:

  • A U.S. citizen or permanent resident (documentation required)
  • Considered low-income according to federal guidelines (documentation required)
  • A person whose parents did not graduate from a four-year college or university
  • 19 years of age or older
  • A Veteran of any age
  • A student with a commitment to succeed in post-secondary education

TRIO EOC Services

  • Academic advice and assistance in institution, program and course selection
  • Assistance in completing college admission and financial aid applications
  • Assistance in identifying and applying for scholarships
  • Guidance on high school re-entry or General Education Development (GED) Program
  • Referral to classes for (ESL) English as a second language
  • Career assessment, exploration, counseling and workshops
  • Assistance in resolving student loan default
  • Campus tours and special activities
