Emma Rodeheaver, Kirk Gibson, Zoe Wuest

Exemplary Academic Achievement – Kirk Gibson

Kirk Gibson, a Philosophy Transfer Pathway student, began his journey at Owens as an international student in spring of 2023. He maintained a full course load and had a 4.0 GPA. Gibson was also a member of the Owens Express baseball team. Lyndsay Dimick, International Student Academic Advisor, wrote in her nomination form that Gibson’s educational journey is inspiring and she is confident through his demonstrated hard work, desire to achieve academic success and personal attributes he will continue to make a positive impact as he continues on his journey.

Extraordinary Community Engagement or Volunteerism – Emma Rodeheaver

Emma Rodeheaver, a Radiologic Technology student, has made the most of her time at Owens both in and out of the classroom. As a student, Rodeheaver devoted more than 100 volunteer hours to various initiatives, both within Owens and in northwest Ohio. Christine Smith, Radiologic Technology chair, nominated Rodeheaver and wrote that any time a volunteer is needed, Rodeheaver stepped up to present the program at student tours, Fall Fest and Winter Welcome.

Exceptional Student Leadership or Student Life Involvement – Zoe Wuest

Zoe Wuest, a Dental Hygiene student, has grown into a leader while at Owens. Brittany Moore, Wuest’s nominator, taught Wuest in many dental hygiene courses. In summer 2022, Wuest became a member of the American Dental Hygienists’ Association (ADHA). Once Moore saw Wuest’s passion for dental hygiene, Moore nominated Wuest for a student board member position on the Toledo Dental Hygienists’ Association which is a position Wuest has now held for two years. She will continue to mentor a first-year student replacement.

Gibson, Rodeheaver and Wuest all graduated in Spring 2024.
