When students enroll at Owens, not everyone knows what career lies in their future. They might try one program but find their passion in another. Jaylee Souder, this year’s Education Transfer Pathway Outstanding Graduate, followed that road and found her passion in education.

Souder, a 2021 Eastwood High School graduate, was undecided of her future when she came to Owens. She tried a few different programs before falling in love with the education program. “The education program classes have been extremely insightful,” said Souder. She has always had a passion for helping others and wanted to help create great experiences for children on their education journey just as others have done for her.

Owens stood out to Souder because she was able to play softball while receiving a quality education. When she toured campus, the atmosphere captured her attention. “The small class sizes, welcoming students and staff, beautiful campus and buildings and the opportunities to get involved on campus,” she said.

Souder will transfer to Bowling Green State University. She plans to enroll in the Inclusive PreK-5 program and obtain her bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education.
