Owens Community College is a two-year powerhouse institution fueling the workforce in northwest Ohio. The education journey for many students takes two years as they pursue their associate degree. However, for Brayden Dean-Scheele, this year’s Outstanding Business Technologies graduate, he completed his degree in three semesters.

Dean-Scheele graduated from Bowling Green High School in 2019. When it came time to pursue his business goals, he chose Owens because of the Business Transfer Pathway program. “It allowed me to learn how to be a better student before transferring,” he said. He enrolled at Owens in Summer 2023, focused on his studies and has completed his degree in one year. All the credits Dean-Scheele took at Owens will transfer to Bowling Green State University for his future degree.

The support from faculty and the learning environment at Owens led to Dean-Scheele’s success. “The atmosphere was perfect for me with the class size being relatively small, it helped me learn better,” he said. Affordability was another reason for his success after taking years off from school. “I probably wouldn’t have made the decision to go back if it wasn’t for Owens being so affordable compared to many other universities.”

After graduation, Dean-Scheele plans to transfer to Bowling Green State University and pursue his bachelor’s degree in supply chain management.
