A strong support system can guide your educational journey. Aden Hersh, this year’s Outstanding Business Technologies graduate, found his support from his friends, professors and advisors at Owens.

Hersh graduated from Napoleon High School and enrolled at University of Dayton but dropped out and moved back to northwest Ohio. He planned to attend another local community college but when his friends moved to Bowling Green and needed a roommate, Hersh found Owens to be the better option for his education.

Once on campus, Hersh credits his success to Reti Shutina, Internship Manager in the School of Business, Hospitality Management and Public Safety. He was given her business card at a transfer fair and didn’t think much of it. When it came time for Hersh to find an internship, he reached out to Shutina. “She was available when I was lost or needed insight,” Hersh said. “I could not list all the ways she helped me be successful.”

Hersh also found support from Dr. David Seeger, adjunct faculty in the School of Business. “He embodies the ambitious professor who wants to push boundaries and try new things for the betterment of the student body,” Hersh said.

Hersh is still deciding what lies next for him but knows there are opportunities everywhere. “I’ve been endowed with all the knowledge and skills I need and more to get me going. I know I will succeed.”
