School of Nursing and Health Professions Recognizes Faculty and Staff with Excellence Awards


The School of Nursing and Health Professions is proud to recognize three of its faculty and staff members with excellence awards.

Jami Williamson

Jami Williamson, Exercise Science professor, strives to help her students maintain a deeper understanding in their educational journey. As a professor, Williamson has not only helped lead the students in the classroom, but she assists the students with campus events and community engagement.

Williamson has also served as a School of Nursing and Health Professions Mentor for the Honors Program and been a member of the Syllabus Committee, Curriculum Committee and the Faculty Assessment Lead for the School of Nursing and Health Professions.

Williamson was nominated by Barb Seguine, Occupational Therapy Assistant Program chair.

Sarah Heldmann

Sarah Heldmann, Occupational Therapy Assistant adjunct faculty member, is a 2014 graduate of Owens Community College. She has worked in both school and community settings primarily with those with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

For the past two years, Heldmann has played a key role in organizing the assistive technology fair/interprofessional education event on the Toledo-area Campus. She also has been a speaker on the Autism Acceptance panel each April. Heldmann is also a member of the inaugural Alumni Hall of Fame.

Heldmann was nominated by Beth Tronolone, Dental Hygiene chair.

Julie Posey

Julie Posey, Sonography chair, has played a vital role in the advancement of the program at Owens. Posey began as an adjunct faculty member then full-time and is currently the chair. Posey also is responsible for playing a role in the Cardiac Sonography program coming to life at Owens. With a need for cardiac sonographers in the region, community partners reached out to Owens to fuel the workforce.

Posey has led her students to be recognized nationally and has mentored them as they hold national leadership roles.

Posey was nominated by Cathy Ford, Dean of the School of Nursing and Health Professions.
