Students may experience big life changes while at school. Britney Jeziorowski started a family and had a son while enrolled in the Health Information Technology program at Owens and continued her educational success. Jeziorowski is this year’s Health Information Technology Outstanding Graduate.

Jeziorowski graduated from Waite High School in 2012. She always had an interest in both art and medicine. “After obtaining an associate’s degree in Fine Art, I decided to continue into the medical field,” she said. She always wanted to help people but on the administrative side. That’s when she found health information technology.

When it came time to pursue her degree, Jerziorowski found the inclusive culture at Owens very welcoming. “It was a mixture of different people of different ages and different backgrounds,” she said. In that community, she found great support from faculty members and the accessibility with course offerings. “It’s surreal and this wouldn’t be possible without the accessibility Owens has to offer and the enthusiasm and compassion exhibited by my instructors.”

Jeziorowski hopes to pursue a career working from home, potentially in trauma registry, as she raises her son, Riley.
