A community feeling can be the biggest factor in someone’s success in life. For Leigha Egnor, this year’s Linda Myers Outstanding Radiography Graduate, that feeling contributed to her educational success.

Egnor is from the small town of Paulding and graduated from its high school in 2021. When looking for where to pursue her degree, Owens had the hometown feel she was seeking. “I am from a small town and I liked the idea of having small classes,” she said. The hometown feeling translated to the community feel she had with her instructors. “I was able to directly talk to them when I needed help,” she added.

The community feeling inspired her to pursue radiology as well. “I have always wanted to be able to work directly with people in the community,” Egnor said. Radiologists aren’t with patients for long, but she always tries to make the most out of her time with the patient in the room.

While at Owens, Egnor was a member of Tomorrow’s Imagers, an organization for students in medical imaging to participate in community service events and fundraising opportunities while sharing their compassion for others and educational purposes. Through that, she participated in many different interprofessional education activities.

Following graduation, Egnor will work at Paulding County Hospital.
