Historic Art of the Great Lakes Opening Reception

Join us for a reception for “Historic Art of the Great Lakes”, a partnership with the National Museum of the Great Lakes, at 5 p.m. Tuesday August 30 in the Walter E. Terhune Art Gallery.

“Historic Art of the Great Lakes” displays a collection from the National Museum of the Great Lakes comprised of more than 250 pieces of two-dimensional art encompassing a variety of mediums, topics and skill sets. In the late 19^th century, artists often worked directly for shipyards or shipping companies, illustrating their vessels for company offices and owners’ mantles. As shipping moved into the 20^th century, art changed slightly.

The exhibit will be open August 29 – October 21.
