2024 Passages Juried High School Art Show

Owens Community College’s Center for Fine and Performing Arts Department invite local High School Student Artists to enter their work in our High School Juried Art Show titled “Passages.” The exhibition will take place in the Rotunda of the Center for Fine and Performing Arts Building on the Owens Community College Campus. This is an opportunity for High School Student Artists in the community to participate in a juried art exhibit and to win Owens Community College Merit Scholarships. “Passages” is open to high school students working in Fine Art, Photography, Commercial Art, Video and Animation. The Visual Arts faculty of Owens Community College will jury the exhibit and prizes will be awarded at the opening reception.

Meet with representatives from four-year colleges and universities to discuss where your Owens education can take you. Advisors will be available to help with career/major exploration, degree evaluations and general transfer/transferology information.

Students will have the opportunity to connect with local employers for full-time jobs or to change careers to align with their major. Students who are undecided, uncertain or looking to gain professional experience through part-time work or an internship are also welcome to attend.

Spring Speaker: Making Meaning @ College Hall 100

The Office of Student Life is proud to present Dr. Jeanine Diller on “Making Meaning: Secular and Sectarian Perspectives on Life”. Dr. Diller is an assistant professor in the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies at the University of Toledo. She focuses on themes including the nature of ultimate reality, the diversity of traditional and secular views of religion, and the power of religion to change the world for better or for worse. Join us for this discussion on how we might respond to the challenge of making a meaningful life by drawing on both religious and secular perspectives at the Spring 2024 Student Life Speaker Presentation.

Join us as we host a plethora of community partner agencies who will visit campus to share information about their organization, mission and volunteer needs. This is a great opportunity to learn about how to engage with the broader community and also explore resource supports for students struggling with basic needs resources.

Please join the Humanities, Social and Behavioral Sciences, Counseling Services and Admissions departments as we bring awareness to this neurotype.  There will be numerous activities to help educate.

Ceramic Glazing Party @ Center for Fine and Performing Arts 214

Work is being done now on a new ceramic mural to be installed outside the Center for Fine and Performing Arts. You are invited to pop-in between 12 and 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 2 in CFPA 214 to glaze some of the mural pieces. It will take about 30 minutes to complete. You can also meet the 2024 Artist in Residence, Annette Fink, and enjoy some snacks.

The Keys to the Good Life @ Education Center 111

Dr. Craig Vickio is a clinical psychologist that has connected with many students of different backgrounds by assisting as their teacher, counselor and adviser. He worked at Bowling Green State University for 30 years in the Counseling Center before retiring in 2016. He continues to teach courses on an adjunct basis at Bowling Green State University and Wright State University.

We invite you to listen to Dr. Vickio from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. Thursday, April 4 in Education Center 111 on the Findlay-area Campus.

Join us for a discussion of anxiety – where it comes from, how it affects the body and how we can cope and learn to live with it. This event is in partnership with Counseling Services.
