Student Workshop: How to Build a Healthy Brain @ Heritage Hall 137

Students are invited to sign up for the workshop, How to Build a Healthy Brain by Kimberley Wilson, by emailing counselingservices@owens.edu. The workshop will be held Wednesdays from October 20 through November 10 at 11 a.m. in Heritage Hall 137.

Topics: Session 1 (October 20)

  • How stress affects brain and mental health
  • The importance of sleep
  • Improving your brain health through nutrition

Note: all sessions will include practical tips for personal as well as academic application (for example, how better sleep can improve grades…how regular exercise can improve grades).

Students, the new Owens President wants to meet you!  Dr. Somerville will be doing a meet and greet at 5 p.m. in the SHAC Atrium prior to the game. The game begins at 6 p.m.

Culinary Arts Expo Day @ College Hall - Admissions Office

High school groups and families are invited to learn more about specific academic programs, the Owens admissions process, and financial aid/scholarships. Faculty and staff will be available to answer questions and provide first-hand knowledge. Prospective students will be able to tour labs and find out how to get started at Owens. Lunch will be provided.

Harvest Free Store Open House @ College Hall 148

The Harvest Free Store will be incorporated into the Harvest Food Pantry and Career Closet and will be open to anyone who wants to donate or take items for free during open center hours.  This will be a place for useable items to be exchanged, helping us foster a continued community of support for our students, while also working to reduce the amount of waste that ends up in landfills by giving unwanted items a “second life.” Join us to see the space and learn about our continuing sustainability and student basic needs efforts. #ServeOhio #MADD21

What items will the Free Store accept?

  • Office/school supplies (gently used or new)
  • Washed and wearable clothing in good condition
  • Washed bedding gently used
  • New or very gently used pillows
  • Working electronics
  • Clean kitchenware (pots, pans, baking dishes, crock pots, utensils, toasters, etc.)
  • Diapers, wipes or supplies for baby
  • New socks and underwear
  • Lamps/clocks
  • New cleaning items (buckets/brooms/mops)
  • *when deciding whether an item can be donated please contact CCCC staff members. Be practical and respectful.  Do not donate items that are unhygienic, contain any personal identification or are against College policy. (e.g. candles)

We will NOT accept:

  • Used undergarments
  • Used hygiene items of any kind (sponges, toothbrushes, etc.)
  • Mattresses
  • Large furniture
  • Used cleaning items
  • Books (book donations can be directed to the 577 Foundation in Perrysburg)
