Professional Interview Experience & Networking Event @ Heritage Hall 123 A & B

Motion Design and Animation Careers

What does a career in animation and motion design ‘look’ like? Taso will introduce you to his experiences and share the news of possibilities in the field.

About the presenter: Taso Mastorakis is a 2000 graduate of the School of Visual Arts. He has 22 years of experience in animation, graphic design, and character animation including Nickelodeon’s Blue’s Clues. Clients include Nickelodeon, TV Land, WeTV, Food Network, CBS Sports, and Robin Hood. Taso is currently working as a senior motion designer for the CBS Sports division.

Propel Ohio Student Leadership Summit

Do you have a passion or career aspiration in civic engagement?  Senator Sherrod Brown is hosting a virtual summit that will engage college students on issues that affect them, their future and their communities.  Propel Ohio promotes civic engagement, voting, and student leadership to help find ways to make change in our community.

The summit will be hosted virtually from 4 – 6 p.m. Wednesday, November 2.

Human Library @ Heritage Hall 123

Listen. Talk. Meet your biases. Break stereotypes. All this and more at the Owens Community College Human Library from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. Thursday, November 3 in Heritage Hall 123. Humans are the books and you are the readers on topics ranging from racism to surviving a family member’s suicide to hearing what it is like being a female in the Navy. Join us for this vital event that will help each of us to “unjudge” someone.

The Social Work Profession

Social work is a fascinating profession that offers individuals the opportunity to help others in a creative and fulfilling way. For those that have a passion for helping others, this career provides many avenues to advocate and empower those in need of assistance. Dr. Walters-Powell will discuss the multitude of opportunities that are available with a degree in Social Work and the path that it takes to be successful in this field.

About the presenter: Dr. Walters-Powell is Chair of Social Work and Health Care Services at the University of Findlay, Psychotherapist at Mind Body Health and Part-time Social Work faculty at Owens Community College.

Robin received her BSW from Ball State Univ., MSW from The Ohio State Univ., Post Graduate Degree in Social Work Research and Evaluation from Wayne State Univ. and her Doctorate in Education from the Univ. of Findlay. She has been practicing social work in a variety of settings since 1993.
