Join us for a reception for “Historic Art of the Great Lakes”, a partnership with the National Museum of the Great Lakes, at 5 p.m. Tuesday August 30 in the Walter E. Terhune Art Gallery.
“Historic Art of the Great Lakes” displays a collection from the National Museum of the Great Lakes comprised of more than 250 pieces of two-dimensional art encompassing a variety of mediums, topics and skill sets. In the late 19th century, artists often worked directly for shipyards or shipping companies, illustrating their vessels for company offices and owners’ mantles. As shipping moved into the 20th century, art changed slightly.
The exhibit will be open August 29 – October 21.
