PTA Student Cohort Research Symposium

The Physical Therapist Assistant 2024 student cohort will present its research symposium Tuesday, December 5.  Students have worked in teams over eight weeks to complete evidence-based research projects in the field of physical therapy.  Teams recruited participants on campus and in the community to participate in their studies.

There are two opportunities to attend.

Option 1

11 a.m.-1 p.m.

Heritage Hall 123A

Students will host their poster presentations.  This event is open-forum and attendees are invited to come and go as their schedule allows.  Students will be present to answer questions and discuss their findings with their research posters on display.

Option 2

6-8 p.m.

Heritage Hall 123A

Students will host their Ohio Physical Therapy Association Continuing Education event. The PTA program is proud to offer this event free for licensed clinicians to earn CEUs toward their license. The first half-hour will be registration and sign-up for attending clinicians with formal presentations beginning at 6:30 p.m.  Everyone is invited to attend as the students give back to their community and share their findings.

Jill of All Trades
Dec 13 @ 8:00 am – 5:00 pm

Since 2014, Jill of All Trades has been providing hands-on experiences to young women in grades 9-12 to introduce them to the possibilities of a career in skilled trades including advanced manufacturing and transportation. The day-long event aims to inspire these women by providing a safe and engaging learning environment through workshops led by industry and college mentors.

Owens Community College is proud to be the first host of Jill of All Trades in the United States. This program will help to address the skilled trades workforce needs of the future. By introducing young women to non-traditional trades and apprenticeships, this collaborative endeavor will allow us to send a consistent message to young women, increase college enrollment in trades and apprenticeships, retain skilled trades workers, grow capacity and address gender diversity.
