Discovering and Using Our Gifts
Nov 21 @ 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm

Talents, knowledge, abilities, knacks, character strengths, intelligence, skills… oh my!  What are YOUR gifts?  How can (and do!) we discover and use our gifts, and how can we help others do the same?  This session will cover some ways to bring out our best from several fun perspectives!

Kimberly Minke has been a Psychology professor at Owens Community College for over two decades, and her favorite part of the job is teaching and learning right alongside her students, savoring those moments of discovery when someone says, “I never thought about that before!”  Kimberly has taught classes in psychology, sociology, college success, and career development, and has facilitated many workshops on leadership and related topics.  She completed and served as Director of the Owens Leadership Academy, a leadership development program for full-time employees of the College; and she is also a graduate and past board member of Leadership Toledo, a wonderful local non-profit that focuses on self-development and community service for youth and adults.  She loves spending time with family and friends, traveling, volunteering, and watching sunsets.  Her favorite color is blue.

Join us to learn about specific examples of leadership that works predicated upon the studies (including those of Dr. Seeger), of social science. That makes these techniques generalizable as it is predicated on social science foundations versus someone’s opinion.

Dr. David W. Seeger is an adjunct faculty member at Owens Community College and Lourdes University, teaching business and leadership-type courses.  Dr. Seeger was the President/CEO of Great Lakes Credit Union, Inc., for 27 years and now holds the title of President Emeritus.

From Internship to Marketing Assistant
Nov 30 @ 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm

What are the responsibilities of a Marketing Assistant for Grace Imaging? Join Brittany as she shares inspirational stories about her educational experiences and career path leading to her job today.

Brittany Mihalec began her journey in 2014. She was planning to complete her pre-recs at Owens and go to Bowling Green for her degree in graphic design. Once she got to Bowling Green, she realized that she felt lost and unsure of my career path. Brittany returned to Owens in 2017 and decided to enroll in the Commercial Art Technology Program. In that moment, she knew I was on the right path. Brittany did her internship with Crazy Cow Graphics, learning the ways of a mobile print van. Following Owens, she decided to go into the business world and earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing with a minor in digital marketing. Today, Brittany is a Marketing Assistant for Grace Imaging, performing every task she learned in college.
