Purchasing your Books/Supplies for College Credit Plus Classes Copy link to clipboard

Posted on April 29th, 2019

CCP students must confirm with their counselor the high school policy on obtaining/purchasing books for CCP courses.

Many Owens CCP students purchase books from the Owens Bookstore, but please be aware, all books are the property of the high school and MUST be returned to the student’s high school at the end of each course.

Students must work with their home schools to ensure they are to buy books from Owens partnered bookstore. If students need help, they should contact their CCP Advisor first.

Obtaining Additional Materials/Supplies for CCP Classes

If an instructor has included additional course materials/supplies (beyond the textbook) on the class syllabus please contact your Owens Advisor. Your Owens CCP Advisor will assist in obtaining these items. School supplies not required on the syllabus will be at the expense of the student.

All required additional materials/supplies MUST be returned at the end of the semester the course is taken to your Owens CCP Advisor.

Supplies could include: paints, calculators, film, scrubs, etc.

Posted on April 24th, 2019

The goal of the College Credit Plus is to prepare Ohio students for college and career readiness. Under the College Credit Plus program, qualified students in grades 7 through 12 have the opportunity to take non-sectarian college level-course work at an institution of higher education within the state. Students participating in College Credit Plus earn transcripted credit.

Owens Community College is excited to offer students the opportunity to take college-level coursework under the College Credit Plus program. Owens boasts three locations for classes as well as online courses to fit busy students’ schedules. The College also provides a variety of services to students including tutoring, academic advising, student clubs, and career exploration. In addition, College Credit Plus students at Owens can take advantage of college facilities, such as the libraries, fitness centers, and computer labs.

Talk with your HS counselor about…

  • What credit do I need to graduate high school?
  • What time of the day can I take my CCP classes?
  • Sending Owens a copy of your official high school transcript. (Homeschool students must have their form completed by their grading authority.) – Transcripts can be uploaded using our CCP Transcript Upload Form.

CCP is a student initiated program. CCP advisors help serve as a guide; HOWEVER, it is the student’s responsibility to know what type of courses they want to take.

**The subject matter of a course enrolled under the college credit plus program may include mature subject matter or materials, including those of a graphic, explicit, violent, or sexual nature, that will not be modified based upon College Credit Plus enrollee participation regardless of where course instruction occurs.**

CCP Options

Under Ohio’s College Credit Plus you may enroll in classes on the Toledo-area or Findlay-area Campuses or take selected CCP Options classes at a home high school.

YOU HAVE TWO CHOICES:

Option A — Enroll for college credit only and be responsible for tuition, fees and books.

Option B — Enroll for high school and college credit and the tuition, fees and book expenses are paid for by the state and your home school. You would be responsible for all course expenses beyond text and workbooks, and any additional tuition for hours over the approved maximum semester hours per academic year.
