How do I take advantage of the Owens classes at the Owens Community College Learning Center Downtown Toledo?

Just complete a free application for admission. Apply online. If you don't have a computer, visit the Learning Center to use one of the student terminals.

  • Admission Application Fee
    If you are a new student, returning student who is applying for re-admission or international student, a $20 fee will be assessed for completing the admissions application. The fee will be charged at the time you register for classes.
  • After you complete an admissions application, it remains active for one semester. If you do not register for classes during that semester, you must re-apply in order to attend classes the next semester.

How do I know if I'm ready to attend college?

Take the COMPASS Test at the Owens Community College Learning Center Downtown Toledo. It's free and will assess your skills. Get your scores immediately and an advisor will be able to match you to the appropriate classes.

Can I still enroll in classes even if I don't have a high school diploma?

You must have a GED before enrolling. Financial aid eligibility depends on your COMPASS placement test scores. For GED completion information, please call (567) 661-7160 or (567) 661-7161. Owens offers the GED prep classes at several locations throughout Lucas County.

Is there transportation to the main campus?

Free TARTA bus service is available to students from downtown Toledo. The bus stop is on Huron between Jackson and Adams streets (around the corner from TARTA's government station) and at the Owens Community College Learning Center Downtown Toledo on 13th Street between Monroe and Washington streets.
