The Common Data Set (CDS) is a collaborative effort between publishers and the educational community to improve the quality and accuracy of information provided to all involved in the transition into higher education and to reduce the burden of compiling and reporting information for individual colleges. The Owens Community College Common Data Set represents a generalization of the information provided by the Office of Institutional Research to national questionnaires and surveys, such as Thompson Peterson's, Orchard House, College Board, ACT and College and University Personnel Association.
The Owens legal district includes the Ohio Counties of Hancock, Lucas and Wood as well as two school district areas in Ottawa County (Benton-Carroll-Salem and Genoa) and one school district in Sandusky County (Woodmore). The regional area includes Ohio Economic Development Regions 2 - Northwest Ohio (Defiance, Erie, Fulton, Henry, Lucas, Ottawa, Sandusky, Williams, and Wood Counties) and 3 - West Central Ohio (Auglaize, Allen, Hancock, Hardin, Mercer, Paulding, Putnam, and Van Wert).
The Ohio Board of Regents tracks progress in achieving the targets stated in the Ohio Strategic Plan for Higher Education by monitoring twenty accountability metrics. Of the twenty, eleven are currently applicable to community colleges.
