Owens Community College has proactively developed a centralized compliance committee to address accessibility and disability compliance efforts campus-wide (Toledo, Findlay and the Learning Centers). This concept was initiated out of Student Services on how to handle questions on campus-wide issues and has expanded since our first meeting.
This centralized focus for the college has a wonderful cross-section of core committee participants from varied areas, backgrounds and disciplines: (Academic Administration, Disability Services; Equal Opportunity; E-Learning; Faculty; Information Technology; Labor; Legal; Marketing; Operations; OSERVE; Student Representative; Student Services; Veterans Services, etc.). Other subject matter experts will be called in as needed.
Accessibility areas will include, but are not be limited to: Policy revision; Website web crawling software; Universal Design; Campus outreach education; on-line and in-class instruction; curriculum and materials accessibility compliance; employment compliance; facilities compliance; ADA/Veteran resource for learning; and a centralized grievance & assessment process.
