SOC 201 - Social Problems
Involves sociological analysis of current social problems Involves sociological analysis of current social problems from competing perspectives. Causes of and solutions to social problems are discussed based upon dichotomous political ideologies (e.g.conservative/liberal). Along with ongoing social problems such as crime and delinquency, poverty, immigration, family decline and domestic violence, special attention is given to potential solutions to controversial problems such as illicit drug use and prostitution. Students are required to complete writing assignments that address most social problems presented in class. (Social and Behavioral Science elective).
