EDU 100 - Introduction to Education
Introduces students to the teaching profession. Candidates engage in a variety of experiences that broadly explore the purposes of schools in society and the knowledge, skills, dispositions and performances required to be an effective teacher. Six major themes include standards-based education, professionalism, diversity, democratic issues/social justice, curriculum and instruction and legal and organizational issues. Includes an introductory field experience to the education profession. Participation and observation in early childhood, middle childhood and adolescent and young adult classroom settings, with emphasis on diversity of school experience are required for 12 hours.
